PTTEP Provides Humanitarian Aid for Earthquake Relief in NTT through PMI

Jakarta, September 25, 2026 – Following the earthquake that struck Flores in August 2026, PTTEP Indonesia is extending humanitarian support to communities affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). As communities continue to recover from the impact of the earthquake, ongoing support remains essential to help meet their basic needs, including food, clean water, and temporary shelter.

In response to these needs, PTTEP Indonesia provided humanitarian assistance valued at IDR 350 million through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), supporting ongoing disaster response and recovery efforts for affected communities in NTT.

The  hand over ceremony was held on September 25, 2026 at PMI Headquarter in Jakarta presided over by H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, Dr. H. Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, Secretary General of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Mr. Suwandi Wiratno, Head of the Resource Mobilization Department of PMI, and PMI officials.

Secretary General of PMI, Dr. H. Abdurrahman Mohammad Fachir, stated that PMI continues to mobilize various resources to deliver humanitarian aid to affected communities. "Currently, we are very busy distributing various aid and mobilizing human resources. In Flores alone, there are seven affected areas. Implementing aid on the ground is not easy due to the transportation constraints we face. We are grateful to receive support from various stakeholders, including the Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia and PTTEP Indonesia. We greatly appreciate this support," said Fachir.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Thailand to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, expressed his hope that conditions in the affected areas would soon improve and that people could return to normal life. "We hope conditions will continue to improve and that people's lives can return to normal as soon as possible," he explained.

According to him, the relationship that has been established over the years not only extends beyond intergovernmental cooperation, but also encompasses various other sectors, including the private sector and civil society. All parties have a vital role in sharing responsibility and providing support to affected communities. "Therefore, I greatly appreciate PTTEP for the various projects and initiatives the company has implemented. We hope this support can ease the burden and suffering of the communities still affected and help accelerate recovery. Thank you for the opportunity given to us to be partners in these various recovery efforts.”

General Manager of PTTEP Indonesia, Grinchai Hattagam, emphasized that the aid reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities in NTT. Since 2020, PTTEP Indonesia have provided support across the region through various social development initiatives, including stunting prevention program in Kupang, clean water program across Flores Island, and waste management and learning centre program in Labuan Bajo aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.

Working together with PMI, which has an extensive network and experience in humanitarian response, the assistance is expected to reach those in need effectively and in a targeted manner. "We express our deepest sympathies to all those affected by the earthquake in NTT. We hope this support can help ease the burden on the community and support the various humanitarian efforts being undertaken in the affected areas," said Hattagam.

PTTEP Indonesia also expressed its appreciation to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), volunteers, and all parties who continue to work together to provide humanitarian support and accelerate the post-disaster recovery process. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, PTTEP Indonesia hopes this assistance will provide tangible benefits to affected communities and support the recovery of livelihoods and social conditions in NTT.
